Oink found Moo and married her.
And they lived happily ever after ...
But there's more.
-----------------
October 20th:
Oink and Moo decided to go on a trip to Australia for 13 days by ourselves!
Our own itinerary, free and easy. Or it was more of Moo's planning rather, hehe. Because Oink is so busy. But it was well planned! Thank you Moo, Love you lots!
And we finally set off on a night flight to Sydney with Jetstar. (Remember to apply for Visa online) Packed breakfast and sandwich lunch to bring with us on the flight. (But own food not allowed by Scoot on our flight back). But only to realise that there is in fact, a MacDonald's at the Sydney airport available for quick lunch on-the-go. But Moo didn't believe we would have time to walk and eat at the same time.
It was a seven-hour flight. And Australia being 3 hours faster than Singapore. We arrived at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport at 12.30 pm in the afternoon. Took all the Sydney guides, "This week in Sydney", Blue Mountains, etc. within the airport, all for the voucher coupons hidden in the guides.
Bought a SIM Optus card for AUD$2 per day available at 5,10,15 days only. Realised that Optus was a group with Singtel too. But the counter guy serving us was rather impolite.
What a bad start.
He didn't want to provide us with more information on how to choose our mobile package. All he said was: wait for the SMS. And worse still, he didn't tell us that we need to keep the voucher receipt to activate/re-charge the plan with the voucher code printed on the receipt. We had to figure that out by ourselves! How horrible! We could have thrown away the receipt too. That was some bad impression of Optus. But Oink don't believe in complaints, unlike the rest of the fellow countrymen.
And next to proceed, was a pre-booking made with Eastcoast Car rental. We walked from the Terminal to the Bay number at the end to call the guy who will fetch us to the car rental office. Waited 15 mins for the bus to come. And the friendly driver told us that Australia doesn't rain much (?) Only to find out how untrue that was. Advice for our fellow travellers: Bring an umbrella.
Used our mobile GPS Google Map to direct us from the car rental to our accommodation at AirBNB 130 Bowman Street, Pyrmont. Brought along a lot of extra battery chargers to keep our mobile alive during the whole trip. It was the first time we gave AirBNB a try too! Not only because it was much cheaper but also to experience the local districts and culture. The Host is very friendly and the rooms are well-decorated too. Although it is rather cramped, but it comes with attached bathroom.
Now it's time for a stroll to the Star Casino! It was quite close by, just a couple of minutes walk away. We had Dim Sum at DING-TAI-FUNG as we heard that the overseas branches are much better than in Singapore. That was so true!
The Crab Roe Shao-Mai was so juicy like the dumpling too! Next was Gelato Messina. A heavenly dessert with so much ingredients in the creamy gelato. Definitely worth the money.
We decided to take a scenic walk to explore Sydney instead of driving to avoid the high costs of parking. $7 dollars per hour?! We walked to Darling harbour and took a few nice pictures.
There are a few attractions over the Pyrmont bridge too: The Maritime Museum, aquarium, Zoo and Madame Tussauds. We thought that Singapore Zoo and aquarium are already unbeatable and it wasn't really worthwhile to explore the Sydney ones. Madame Tussauds and Maritime Museum are probably more worth it. A straight walk down is Hyde park, hosting a music festival event with food stalls while we were there.
But we were so full from the Dim Sum and Dessert! A refreshing walk through the park brought us to the Archibald Fountain.
We continued on through the Botanical Gardens past the Art Gallery.
We walked across Mrs Macquaries Road to Mrs Macquarie's chair, through the cooling breeze before it started raining...
We can see the Sydney Opera House from where we stand. Walking along the coast line of Farm Cove, we reach the Opera House. And there was a double rainbow at the end of the walk as the rain finally stopped. A rare sight not to be missed!
We strolled along the beautiful circular Quay to Lowenbrau Keller for its famous German trotters and mango beer.
Nice live band music at our dinner place before we retire back to our room.
