We woke up early in the morning to rush-drive to Port Stephen/Nelson Bay for breakfast, our main motivation. Our target: NICE restaurant at Nelson Bay.
We parked near the Ferrylink at the 8p paid carpark from 8.30 to 1.30 pm.
The enormous number of flies accompanied our walk to the breakfast spot.
Their breakfast menu was ingeniously hidden in the covers of a children's story book. Although the poach egg was their specialty, we agreed that my cheap burger tasted way better. Coffee was refreshing too!
Dolphin watch next!
We boarded the MV surprise for our much awaited dolphins. But to our surprise, there weren't any for that day. The management gave us complimentary return tickets valid for 1 month. The only entertainment we had was to watch the kids play in the waters over the cruise's nettings.
Oink slept through much of the journey. :(
We walked to the end of the wharf for some nice Fish N Chips!
Of course, the flies weren't ready to let us go. They followed us happily to our dinning place. They had lunch with us too.
We met the timing well and left the carpark at 1.30 pm, driving to Gan Gan lookout, which was a tough find. The entrance was just opposite the giant whale statue. There was also a secret footpath at the carpark that leads to the top of a hill too.
We drove down to James Paterson, Anna Bay to look for our 4WD tours to play our sand-boarding.
So tempted to play the sand buggy too but it was too expensive for a cheap thrill ride. Maybe next time!
We had our fill of fun before we drove back to Sydney to our next AirBNB destination at Erskineville.
We weren't happy with this accommodation. It was interesting to try living in the Attic but we felt that the host had different expectation from us. He probably wanted to interact with us more or even participate in our activities but we were too tired to do that. Our advice: it will be a good place to stay if travellers had an unplanned itinerary and just ask the host to bring him/her out. But we had a feeling that host wasn't very familiar with Sydney attractions either.
Dinner was Korean at Madang at Chinatown. Food was so good! Unforgettable.
